Educator Information and FAQs

The JA Finance Park experience begins in the classroom. Teachers cover 13 different lessons of personal finance curriculum. Once the classroom curriculum is completed, the program continues with an online virtual park simulation!

How does JA Finance Park correlate to Common Core and RI State Academic Standards?

JA Finance Park lessons provide a highly relevant learning opportunity to “model with mathematics,” one of the eight Standards for Mathematical Practice based on the CCSS, in which students apply mathematics to solve problems arising in everyday life. The lessons also address fundamental business and economic concepts, explore career interests and opportunities, and develop work-readiness skills.

You can view the correlations here for the main JA Finance Park curriculum and its extension activities.

What is the cost of JA Finance Park?

Due to the gracious generosity of our sponsors the JA Finance Park program is offered to all schools/educators for free.  The curriculum, student workbooks and virtual simulations are free!

Do I (the school) need to provide the equipment?

No, JA of Rhode Island has an inventory of Google Chromebooks that can be used for the JA Finance Park Virtual simulation.

How do I sign-up?

Simply complete the online program request form. Once you submit the form JA Finance Park Staff will contact you in order to confirm your scheduled date to visit the JA Finance Park facility or confirm your participation with JA Virtual Finance Park.

We require that all new teachers go through a teacher orientation. The orientation will take place at your school. With the updated curriculum in the 2014/15 school year, we also recommend returning teachers to go through an in-person training as well.
