Educator of the Year Award

First awarded in 2019, the Educator of the Year Award was instituted to recognize Rhode Island’s outstanding educators. Nominations may be submitted by Junior Achievement staff, board members, as well as principals/assistant principals at schools that host JA programs. The Education Committee of Junior Achievement’s Board of Directors, along with past recipients of the award will select the current year’s recipient.

criteria

  • Experts in their field who guide students of all backgrounds and abilities to achieve excellence.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, students, and families to create a school culture of respect and success.

  • Deliberately connect the classroom and key stakeholders to foster a strong community at large.

  • Demonstrate leadership and innovation in and outside of the classroom walls that embodies lifelong learning.

  • Educators of the Year are well-known in their communities and have earned the admiration and respect of parents and community members. These are the teachers who work to make the community a better place for their students and who teach their students to have a positive impact on the community, as well. They are involved in local events and regularly interact with education stakeholders in the community.

  • Helps to provide services to students to foster academic success along with actively trying to provide mental health supports in the school or community setting.
